  • From six weeks postnatal
  • Specialist women’s health physiotherapist
  • Babies welcome
  • Private treatment room

What a Mummy MOT is

The Mummy MOT is a structured postnatal physiotherapy assessment: a full check of how your posture, tummy muscles and pelvic floor have recovered from pregnancy and birth, whether that birth was six weeks ago or six years ago.

The six-week GP check rarely looks at any of this in detail. The Mummy MOT does, and it ends with a personal plan: what has healed well, what needs specific work, and how to get back to exercise without setting yourself back.

“I have seen several different therapists at Sammy Margo’s over many years. Every one has been excellent. When I was recovering from a hip replacement the physio I received helped me recover really quickly. Highly recommended.”

“I had a full hip replacement following a cycle accident, and have daily physio visits on weekdays for three weeks. I am already able to walk short distances without a stick or crutch, and this is entirely due to the work they have done with me.”

Frequently asked questions

When is the right time for a Mummy MOT?
Any time from six weeks after birth. There is no upper limit; plenty of women come years after their last baby, and the assessment is just as useful.
I had a C-section. Is it still relevant?
Yes. The check covers your scar, your tummy muscles and your pelvic floor, all of which work hard in pregnancy however the birth happened.
Can I bring my baby?
Yes, genuinely. Feeding, naps and interruptions are all completely normal here.
What if you find a problem?
You leave with a plan either way. If something needs ongoing treatment, your physiotherapist will explain the options with no obligation.
When can I run again?
After the check we can answer that for your body rather than a generic timeline. A staged return is usually possible sooner than you fear and later than Instagram suggests.
