What neurological physiotherapy does

Neurological conditions change how the brain and body talk to each other. Neuro physiotherapy works on what that means day to day: walking, balance, strength, transfers, and the confidence to keep doing the things that make life feel like yours.

Progress is built through repetition, specific practice and steady progression. We set goals that matter to you, whether that is the stairs at home, walking to the shop, or getting back on a golf course, and we involve family and carers so practice does not stop when we leave.

What to expect

How neurological rehabilitation works

Long-term conditions need a plan that survives contact with real life. Ours is built in three parts.

01Assessment where it mattersOften best done at home, where we can see the real stairs, the real bathroom, and what daily life actually asks of you.
02Goals you chooseRehabilitation is organised around your goals, broken into steps we can measure, so progress is visible.
03Practice and progressionRegular sessions with the same physiotherapist, or small team of clinicians, a programme for the days between, and honest reviews of what is working.
Who you will see

Specialist neurological physiotherapists

Neurological rehabilitation is delivered by physiotherapists who specialise in it, not squeezed into a general caseload. All are chartered and HCPC-registered, and because home visits are one of our largest services, treating neurological patients in their own homes is our normal, not an exception.

“I have seen several different therapists at Sammy Margo’s over many years. Every one has been excellent. When I was recovering from a hip replacement the physio I received helped me recover really quickly. Highly recommended.”

“I had a full hip replacement following a cycle accident, and have daily physio visits on weekdays for three weeks. I am already able to walk short distances without a stick or crutch, and this is entirely due to the work they have done with me.”

Frequently asked questions

Is it too late to improve?
Improvement is not limited to the first months after a stroke or diagnosis. Goals change over time, but well-directed practice can make a difference at any stage.
Home or clinic, which is better?
For many neurological patients, home: rehabilitation happens on the stairs, floors and furniture you actually live with. We will recommend whichever setting serves your goals.
Can family join the sessions?
Please. Involved family and carers are one of the strongest predictors of practice actually happening between visits.
How often will I be seen?
That depends on your goals and stage. Some patients are seen twice a week, others fortnightly. Your physiotherapist will recommend a frequency and review it openly.
Do you work alongside NHS care?
Yes. Many of our patients use us alongside NHS therapy input, and with your consent we are happy to coordinate with your NHS team.
