Physiotherapy built around your sport

Sports injuries need more than rest. Getting you back means understanding the demands of your sport, finding what broke down, and rebuilding enough strength and control that the same thing does not happen again next season.

We treat the injury in front of us, then work backwards: training load, technique, old injuries that never quite finished healing. Rehabilitation ends with sport-specific loading, not just pain going quiet.

What to expect

From injury back to sport

Rehabilitation is staged, so you always know which phase you are in and what unlocks the next one.

01Diagnose and settleWork out exactly what is injured, calm the acute phase, and keep you training around it wherever possible.
02RebuildProgressive strength and control work, at the clinic and in your own training, with clear markers for progression.
03Return to sportSport-specific loading and a graded return, so the first game back is not the first real test.
Who you will see

Physiotherapists who work with athletes

Our sports physiotherapists treat everyone from first-time marathon runners to competitive club athletes. The practice’s founder, Sammy Margo, was England’s first female physiotherapist in professional football, and that sporting DNA runs through how we rehabilitate.

“I have seen several different therapists at Sammy Margo’s over many years. Every one has been excellent. When I was recovering from a hip replacement the physio I received helped me recover really quickly. Highly recommended.”

“I had a full hip replacement following a cycle accident, and have daily physio visits on weekdays for three weeks. I am already able to walk short distances without a stick or crutch, and this is entirely due to the work they have done with me.”

Frequently asked questions

Should I stop training completely?
Usually not. In most cases we keep you training around the injury and adjust load rather than stopping everything, unless the injury genuinely needs offloading.
Do you treat acute injuries?
Yes. The earlier we see an acute injury, the better we can guide the first weeks, and most patients are seen within 24 to 48 hours.
When can I run again?
That depends on the injury, and an honest answer needs an assessment. You will leave your first appointment with a staged plan and the markers that unlock each phase.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly. Some insurers ask for a referral before covering treatment, so check your policy first.
Do you offer sports massage too?
Yes, at both clinics, on its own or built into your rehabilitation programme.
