Many of you will be making a New Year’s resolution to improve your posture. There is a long-standing belief that a straight back with a strong core minimise the likelihood of developing joint pain. That is only part of the picture and

it's a very mechanistic view. It can definitely help but is not the only thing to consider. Several studies have shown that there’s no such thing as a good or bad posture.

As we move into 2025 it’s really important to not only look at the physical side of things but we also need to include the psychological and socio-environmental factors and think about how these play a role. And remember posture is all day long, at home, at work and in bed!

2025 will be a year when we take a more holistic view, so when this comes to posture is not only about the physical side of posture it’s about the psychological and biopsychosocial side of the posture.
